What is a Real Property Services Representative?
A Real Property Services Representative is an integral part of the Real Property Services team. A Real Property Services Representative assists in acquisitions and enforcement of real property rights required for the operation, maintenance or expansion of the transmission, distribution, or communication system infrastructure. This position investigates, negotiates, acquires, defends, and ensures legal recording and enforcement of all easement rights required for electric, gas and/or communication facilities. Prepares and secures specific state, highway, railroad, and county permits for use of lands owned by governmental agencies, the public or other utilities.
What does a Real Property Services Representative do?
A Real Property Services Representative performs under limited supervision, with an opportunity for independent judgement, tasks related to real property matters inclusive of but not limited to:
Easement negotiation
Local land use regulatory compliance
Encroachment evaluation
Highway permitting
Railroad permitting
Land use permitting
Electric distribution pole attachment licensing
What does it take to be a Real Property Services Representative?
Required:
Associate’s degree in Business, Communications, Finance, Psychology, Criminal Justice or a relevant field and at least 2 years of relevant experience
Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new computer software programs quickly
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with customers, property owners, local officials, and employees
Strong analytical skills, evaluation skills, and attention to detail
Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills to ensure that necessary documents are maintained
Must be able to adapt to a number and variety of assignments, meet deadlines, and work well in a fast-paced environment
Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Finance, Psychology, Criminal Justice or a relevant field
Knowledge of ESRI GIS applications
Skills necessary to acquire easements and fee-owned parcels for the Company’s use including negotiation skills and general knowledge of real estate law, surveying and abstracting methods, and property appraisal methods and practices
General knowledge of permitting practices of large public and private landowners, such as railroads and the New York City Board of Water Resources
General knowledge of local, state, and federal highway use and permitting requirements
General knowledge of local land use regulations, ordinances and building permit requirements
General knowledge of electric distribution pole attachment licensing process, procedures and methods

Pay range: $69,800- $110,400
