Job description

As the Payroll Specialist (Union Payroll), you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing, with a particular focus on managing union payroll in compliance with union agreements and regulations. Your expertise in union payroll and attention to detail will be crucial in ensuring accuracy and timeliness in payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Union Payroll Processing:

    • Manage the processing of union payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, and contributions in accordance with union agreements.
    • Ensure compliance with union regulations and reporting requirements.
    • Collaborate with union representatives to address payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
  2. General Payroll Processing:

    • Oversee the processing of non-union payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Validate payroll data to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Process payroll adjustments, bonuses, and other payroll-related transactions.
  3. Benefits Administration:

    • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
    • Coordinate payroll deductions for benefits and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  4. Payroll Compliance:

    • Stay updated on changes to payroll laws and regulations, particularly as they pertain to union payroll.
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
    • Prepare and submit payroll-related reports as required by regulatory agencies.
  5. Systems Management:

    • Utilize payroll software and systems to process payroll accurately and efficiently.
    • Implement best practices for payroll processing and recommend system enhancements as needed.
  6. Communication and Collaboration:

    • Communicate payroll-related information to employees and management effectively and promptly.
    • Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to address payroll-related issues and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
