Workplace: This position is an in-office position based in Irvine, CA.
About the position and the department
Under general supervision from the Finance Manager, perform professional accounting duties of average difficulty in the establishment and maintenance of accounts and financial records for division activities, such as maintain accounting records for funds administered by the departments; prepare, review and analyze financial reports, statements, accounts and records; Incumbent may exercise moderate control in the administration of established policies and procedures, and may have on-going contacts with technicians, engineers and management.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Regular bookkeeping duties
- Ensure correct bookkeeping according to internal allocation guidelines
- Ensure control that policies and procedures are being followed
- Handling and reporting of sales taxes
- Ensure correct and in-time hour registration from employees.
- Provide Payroll with support and act as back-up on an as needed basis
- Budgets / forecasts and follow-up
- Invoice service jobs and follow up on account receivables and payables
- Assist finance manager in following up and analyzing financial performance on project and service
- Perform specific tasks during the monthly closing and reporting co-operating closely with finance manager.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
- 3-5 years working experience as an Accounting Specialist or a similar role
- Basic computer skills with knowledge on how to manage bookkeeping software
- Basic Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong mathematical and research skills
- Time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to comprehend accounting principles and current financial legislation
- Ability to accurately and efficiently analyze data
- Ability to travel internationally for training purposes
