Duties: The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz invites applicants for the position of Director of Compliance for the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Compliance. This is a full-time, full-year position, reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Research Funding and Economic Development. As part of the Sponsored Programs team, this position will maintain policies, protocols, and procedures necessary for the ethical and effective administration of funds. The successful candidate will serve as a liaison to the SUNY Research Foundation as well as to external funding organizations to understand all compliance requirements and will work with institutional colleagues to ensure appropriate and consistent application of all regulations and reporting. The successful candidate should have experience with the full cycle of sponsored program administration and be able to demonstrate collaborative and creative problem solving, as well as effective communication across diverse levels of the institution.
Duties for this role include but are not limited to:• Interpreting and applying federal, state and university policies applicable to grants and external funding managed through the office.• Provide guidance on compliance requirements and best practices as proposals are being developed and executed.• Coordinate with Research Foundation for guidance on complex compliance questions, attend meetings, professional development, and training on best practices to maintain a rigorous and consistent compliance program.• Maintaining accurate and complete records for reporting, responding to internal and external requests as appropriate.• Review existing practices and policies and recommend changes to remain current and/or to advance efficiencies in administration.• Provide oversight to ensure compliance with Human Research Ethics (HREB) protocols.• Maintain oversight of compliance software, all required updates, and recommendations for changes as necessary or required.
Qualifications: Required:• Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience with grants administration
Preferred:• Master’s degree is a related field with experience in compliance
