Fleet Operations Superintendent
Alaska Power & Telephone has a full-time position for a Fleet Operations Superintendent at our Haines, Prince of Wales, Skagway, or Tok Locations .
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB:
Support all aspects of the corporate fleet operations, including but not limited to the development of short term and long-term capital and operating budgets in coordination with Chief Operating Officer and on-site management.
ROLE and RESPONSIBILITY:
- Ensure corporate fleet maintains a cost efficient and mission-ready status at all operational locations.
- Develop and maintain metrics for replacement of aging vehicles and equipment.
- Develop a long-term capital plan for vehicles and equipment.
- Develop systems, policies, planning, and regulatory compliance as necessary to maintain fleet.
- Supervise and coordinate with local mechanics to ensure required duties are being performed , working with Telecom and Power leadership to establish individual mechanic's priorities and ensure ongoing operational needs are met.
- Ensure fleet maintenance is being performed at appropriate intervals and tracked appropriately.
- Supervise the use of fleet related apps and systems and provide appropriate oversight and training to fleet operators.
- Report any fleet related non-compliance issues to appropriate department .
- Travel to site locations on an as-needed basis.
- Ensure crane certifications and dielectric testing programs are carried out per requirements.
- Coordinate fleet labor and assets when required to support operations , such as Assist ing with maintenance of diesel plants and hydro plants in areas of mechanic expertise ( such as hydraulic systems , part machining, etc ).
- Lead and/or assist fleet mechanics in their duties including :
- M aintenance of fleet vehicles, including digger and bucket trucks and heavy equipment
- Housekeeping of yards, shops and other fleet related areas
- Equipment certifications such as crane and d ielectric
- Travel will be required up to 25% of the time to other AP&T Locations
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
- 5 years' experience in maintenance of all types of vehicles (diesel, gas engine and electric)
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Familiar with hydraulic systems
- Familiar with computer engine diagnostics
- 10 years' experience in maintenance of all types of vehicles (diesel, gas engine and electric)
- Welder experience or training, hydraulics training, supervisor training, computerized engine diagnostics training, HAZWOPER training
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- ADL, CDL, First Aid Card, CPR Card, Flagger certificate, DOT required & air brake certifications
OTHER:
- Computer knowledge needed to maintain the fleet maintenance program and keep it updated.
- Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS of the JOB:
- At times work will be performed in loud environments requiring hearing protection
- At times work will be performed in non-temperature-controlled environments
- At times work will be performed around rotating equipment
- At times work will be performed while sitting, standing, crouching, squatting, and reaching at heights
- At times work will be performed in a standard office environment with regularly scheduled working hours
- Must be capable of: Safely lifting of up to 70 pounds on occasion, maintaining good balance
- Must be capable of safely moving 55-gallon drums of oil
- Safety and PPE must be worn at all times when performing work in the field
- Occasional travel may be required by small planes, ferry, helicopter, boats, and/or ATV
- Overtime may be required
The hiring pay range for this position is $49.39 to $59.39 per hour and is DOE.
