Job description

Through our partnership with the National Institutes of Health, Kelly Government Solutions offers administrative, IT, engineering, scientific, and healthcare professionals the opportunity to work with the leading medical research center in the world. We are seeking an individual to work as a Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:

(1) Recruit and screen patients for National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) projects which focus on children with extremely severe, impairing irritability and their families

(2) Conduct preliminary evaluation of potential participants through extensive telephone interviewing of patient families, review of medical records, consultation with treating professionals, and consultation with medical staff, leading to acceptance for on-site evaluation or rejection with referral if indicated.

(3) Perform and interpret neuropsychological assessments to participants and family members; prepare reports of results

(4) Conduct structured and semi-structured interviews (such as SCID and K-SADS) with participants and family members

(5) Perform cognitive and neuropsychological assessments for clinical care and research studies including diagnostic assessments containing parent interviews as well as direct testing with individuals.

(6) Provide structured psychotherapy in the form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

(7) Interface with schools on novel recruitment projects; meet with public school personnel and staff on a regular basis during recruitment periods to ensure participation in research; meet with school personnel to determine suitability of research participation within the schools.

(8) Provide clinical support to patients and families throughout the time that they are participating in research protocols.

(9) Conduct patient and volunteer follow-up evaluations and track patients through longitudinal studies

(10) Provide general recommendations and referrals to school systems, medical and health facilities and other agencies

(11) Provide consultation regarding study design and execution as well as use of psychological instruments.

(12) Train research assistants, staff and trainees on psychiatric screening interviews and neuropsychological assessments.

(13) Contribute to research summaries, reports, and manuscripts of findings related to clinical psychology clinical research

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

(1) Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or closely related discipline

(2) Understanding of pediatric and adult neuropsychiatric disorders and cognitive behavioral therapy

(3) Experience conducting semi-structured interviews (such as SCID and K-SADS)

(4) Experience working with special/vulnerable populations (such as children, adolescents, adult, or elderly)

(5) Knowledge of clinical research study design, participant screening, and overall study management
