Flexographic Printing Press Operator

Starting Pay: $58,240 - $66,560

Shift: 3rd Shift 6pm - 6am M-Wednesday

Location: Eagan

Description:

The Press Operator will follow all established Standard Work in the proper set-up, operation, quality and changeover of the printing presses. Candidates will primarily be working with Flexographic Printing Presses. This position will show leadership in areas of Lean Manufacturing, KAIZEN, ISO quality systems, innovation and current systems technology

1) Performance of all duties and responsibilities assigned to the press operator position.

a. Follow all established Standard work needed to maintain the Smyth quality standards and production schedule.

b. Leading and participating in the changeover process while creating opportunities to improve our efficiencies.

c. Following and promoting all established Standard Work in the process.

d. Sustainment of 6’s requirements for work and staging area.

e. Proper operation of the printing press while maintaining quality and performance of the equipment.

f. Participate in daily shift meetings within the work group to ensure proper communication of details and daily production concerns.

g. Use the establish tools to increase efficiencies and communication within the production team.

h. Drive efficiencies on the press floor with proper use of support staff and clear communication.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

1-2 years of high level machine operation experience. Preferably in printing on narrow web flexo graph machines.

• Perform very heavy work, lifting up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

• Hear, speak and effectively verbally communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization.

• Must be able to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods of time based on duty being performed.

• Physical ability to move around office/building area repeatedly throughout the day.

• Apply manual dexterity, visual acuity and ability, for computer keyboarding, equipment use, reviewing detailed reports, information, and fine print.

• Must have color vision to accurately distinguish between a wide variety of colors used in the printing process.

• Able to work a flexible work schedule including nights and weekends and attending events/meetings as needed.
