Position Summary

We are looking for a student pursuing an Electrical course of study to join us for a three-month period, starting in May/June 2024. This position will be based out of our Easton, Maine location.

The Electrical Intern will support the Electrical & Instrumentation Department at McCain Foods while contributing to that team’s goals and objectives.

The Intern is expected to gain a broad understanding of manufacturing processes, the control systems, electrical distribution systems, instrumentation, problem solving, troubleshooting, as well as proper and safe work practices.

The Team 

The intern will be working with a team of experienced industrial electricians, who collectively hold many years of experience in the field. Some of which have 30+ years working right here at McCain. We are a close-knit group of hardworking, fun-loving individuals who will make sure you feel part of the team.

What You Will Be Working On

•    Support the electrical team with electrical maintenance tasks throughout the facility.
•    Develop a general understanding of the process and how it is being automated.
•    Engage in all training, development and educational opportunities provided.
•    Participate in daily line calls associated with keeping the process running smoothly.
•    Contribute to shut down work and preventative maintenance.
•    Apply troubleshooting skills developed during internship.
•    Enter time worked and completion status into the workorder system.

What You Will Learn

•    Safe electrical work practices.
•    Tools used to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems.
•    Programable Logic Controllers (PLC’s).
•    How to troubleshoot complex electrical systems.
•    General troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
•    How to read machine prints and wiring schematics.
•    Instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting.
•    How to work as a team not only with the electrical crew but with many other departments that keep this facility working properly.

What You Need to be Successful 

•    Pursuing an associate degree in an electrical field course of study. 
•    Good basic computer skills.
•    Basic knowledge and experience using hand tools a plus.
•    Ready to get your hands a little bit dirty.
