Job description

Job Description or Duties: Responsible for leading and supporting marketing and communications strategies and external relations activities for the College of Business and Technology and the Nebraska Safety Center. Develop and manage comprehensive marketing and communications plans for CBT and NSC that include branding, social media, promotional campaigns, and outreach activities. This position is responsible for business development initiatives and managerial oversight that grows NSC through new programs and funding opportunities, including grants. Responsible for establishing a better integration of NSC within CBT. Oversees CBT student recruitment and retention efforts that promote and grow the CBT brand, academic programs, alumni events, and other activities, which include teaching one to two undergraduate classes each academic year in business administration and/or marketing.

CBT Marketing, Communications & External Relations:

· Develop CBT communications strategic and tactical plans.

· Generate ideas about stories to build awareness and reputation of CBT

· Coordinate with freelance writers.

· Promote and manage CBT’s social media presence.

· Work with UNK Communications and Marketing to manage CBT’s website content.

· Develop promotional videos for CBT and its departments.

· Oversee digital signage content and timing.

· Assist with researching, writing, and editing messages, scripts, presentations, and talkingpoints for the Dean’s Office.

· Develop and maintain positive relationships with key community stakeholders, includingindividuals, alumni, organizations, businesses, and government agencies.

· Develop and implement strategic and proactive public relations plans to build reputation andtrust in the community.

· Foster collaboration and build trust among diverse community groups.

Attend events to support CBT events that may occur in the evenings and weekends. CBT Student Recruitment, Retention, and Teaching:

· Attend UNK/CBT student recruiting events.

· Generate ideas and help develop CBT recruiting events.

· Assist in managing CBT’s website to ensure it appeals to current and future students.

· Promote and manage CBT social media aimed at recruitment and retention.

· Work with future CBT student ambassadors on recruitment and retention efforts.

· Teach one to two face-to-face or online undergraduate business administration and/ormarketing courses each academic year.

NSC Marketing, Communications & External Relations: ·

Help develop and implement strategic business and marketing plans for NSC, includingbranding, website, promotional campaigns, and social media presence.

· Work with NSC Rural Transit Manager/Business Development on internal and externalpartners to seek new, sustainable business/funding opportunities.

· Assist in identifying and implementing strategies for growth and expansion, includingpotential partners and clients.

· Help identify new grant funding opportunities and develop strategies to align capital andother resources with opportunities.

· Increase awareness of the NSC’s programs and services.

· Identify and participate in community events to promote the center.

· Lead and coordinate outreach activities.

NSC Operations, Staff, and Financial Oversight:

· Monitor all NSC programs, the driving facility, legislation, and compliance with local and staterules and regulations.

· Work with the Finance Director on financial obligations and performance data (financial,sales, and activity reports) to monitor and measure productivity.

· Assist in developing and managing program budgets.

· Help develop and implement systems, policies, and procedures to maximize operations.

· Oversee staff work assignments and productivity, conduct performance appraisals, andmonitor goal progression – Kearney and Lincoln

· Help identify training and development opportunities and motivation strategies for staff.

· Monitor staffing requirements and recruitment and retention strategies for current andfuture operations.

· Foster a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment that drives the center’smission.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a master’s degree in business or a related field from an accredited institution and at least five years of experience with increasing responsibilities and proven performance in marketing, communications, external relations, and supervision of students and/or staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. A demonstrable network of business contacts in Nebraska

2. Leadership qualities and interpersonal skills necessary to engage with a variety of

stakeholders, from students to business professionals

3. Ability to lead and motivate others, both direct and non-direct reports

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including bilingual skills

5. Photoshop and video editing skills
