DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Director of Communications Health Sciences Advancement (DOC-HSA), the Health Sciences Advancement Senior Writer is responsible for independently researching and writing, as well as tracking and reporting, on a variety of development strategies that serve the DOC-HSA and Health Sciences Advancement. Working in collaboration with Advancement Operations and Campaign staff, deans, administration, staff and faculty, the Senior Writer's main responsibilities include strategy summaries, case statements, white papers, PowerPoint presentations and personalized proposals for principal and major gift level prospects in support of the university's fundraising goals. The incumbent will write or edit a variety of comprehensive and difficult material for stylistic consistency, logic, organization, rational development of content, and emphasis. Will research, select sources for and conducts interviews, and ensure accuracy of written pieces. Recommend content and layout, edits, and coordinates production of a variety of printed and online material, or conversion of printed pieces to online formats and archives. These projects will range from highly technical scientific projects to marketing pieces for use with a variety of audiences to highly personalized communications. Write impact reports to serve Health Sciences Advancement and the university's principal donors. The Senior Writer will research, analyze, compile and evaluate data, and produce reports to support principal donor and prospect management activities for effectiveness, reporting results to the DOC-HSA. Will develop internal procedures to streamline writing requests, content management reviews, and approvals, and provide training to development professionals and assistants on these procedures, and how to retrieve data and draft written fundraising materials such as briefings, proposals, impact reports, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $67,200 - $119,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $32.18 - $57.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
