What We’re Looking For:

Iridium has experienced remarkable growth as a direct result of our unique system and high-quality services. To continue this trajectory, we’re searching for an experienced Vice President to report directly to the Chief Operations Officer and work closely with her leadership team and across the company. You will have direct impact on the business through your ability to drive (a) strategic initiatives (b) service and product quality, and (c) investment decisions that align with our business needs, growth opportunities and improved operational efficiencies. Your primary focus will be on shaping and guiding major functional areas within the company, making this a unique opportunity for a seasoned leader looking to take on significant responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a key leadership/management role, with a special focus on executive-level advising, project execution, business accumen and key interdepartmental collaboration. Ultimately, the primary function of this role is to ensure everything runs smoothly throughout Iridium’s technology development and operations.

What You’ll Do:

• Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the COO, handling confidential matters, and being a liason with other organizations to ensure her agenda is clear, communicated and exectued.
• Operate at a tactical, strategic, and operational level, handling the oversight of projects that do not neatly fit within the organizational chart or fall between departments
• Create opportunities and iniativies with the COO, and then champion those iniatives to improve customer experience, quality, and opertional efficiency while finding opportunities to reduce costs over time.
• Foster and develop a highly effective senior team to lead major corporate-wide initiatives
• Run the Iridium Investment Committee and provide analsyis and recommendations to drive corporate decisions around Capex, Opex and R&D, and then ensuring excellent communications of decisions with all departments.
• Manage overall budgets for the COO and drive decisions against priorities/corporate goals.
• Foster a culture of excellence and manage the quality organization to drive continuous improvements through formal corrective actions both internally and externally to customers .
• Advocate for our customers by surfacing deep insights from Iridium services, users, and products to develop recommendations.
• Lead the team in the collection of data and then turning that into information to properly generate insights and recommendations for executives to make high impact decisions
• Work closely with finance and HR on long term planning for the COO.

• Capable of being a strong motivator and source of direction for your team and exemplifying commitment to your team’s goals
• Proficiency in business operations, process optimization, and program management skills
• Enjoys variety and thrives on challenges and change, working behind the scenes to solve problems and move projects forward
• Must possess a strategic mindset and be capable of planning objectives for an entire team
• The ability to identify and evaluate challenges and come up with effective solutions
• Able to confidently drive discussions, make decisions, and respond to difficult situations
• Have a strong sense of urgency in driving projects to completion and be motivated to achieve outcomes and results
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management or related field. MBA preferred.
• Previous executive level management experience
• Wide range of experiences demonstrating exceptional communication, project management, and leadership skills

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table :

• Master of Engineering/Science degree

We’ll also need you to:

• Be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
• Have or be eligible to obtain security clearance
• US Citizen

Work Environment:

The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For meetings in person, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
