Position Highlights

The Office for Responsible Outside Interests (OROI) is in search of an Officer, Conflict of Interest (Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Pro III). The primary purpose of this position is to ensure (1) Research Certifications are reviewed for Financial Conflicts of Commitment, (2) conflict reports are submitted to federal and other research sponsors, (3) substantial interests reviews are completed pursuant to state law, and (4) liaise with the Research Security Program.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Using technical and subject matter knowledge, reviews Research Certifications (such as disclosures of interests outside of Institution and research completed inside of Institution) for Financial Conflicts of Interest. If a conflict is found, this is reported up to the committee(s) and to federal agencies. This is required by federal regulations to ensure that UArizona can continue to receive federal funding such as training grants, COVID dollars that came into the University, etc.

* Utilizing subject and technical knowledge to review eDisclosure submissions, including conducting Visual Compliance Screenings for Restricted Parties and conflict of commitment assessments. This requires anticipation based on previous patterns at the federal level.

* Gathers, analyzes, and summarizes data to submit conflict reports to federal and other research sponsors. These reports could potentially lead to a change in a research processes depending on results and regulations.

* Additional duties as assigned, for example - UArizona constituent outreach, triaging of phone calls that require a developed and polished response often concerning various stakeholders (for ex: preparing a statement for the President on XYZ issue) with minimum oversight.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Knowledge of electronic systems, including knowledge of system design, testing and implementation.

* Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

* Ability to independently apply polices and procedures to varying fact patterns.

* Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner to various stakeholders, including leadership and individuals outside of the University.

* Ability to work independently and cooperatively.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
