Job Overview

The Strategic Programs & Initiatives (SP&I) unit in the University of Cincinnati Office of Research provides the critical infrastructure that UC faculty and students require to take their ideas to the next level; collaborate freely across colleges and disciplines; fuse fruitful research partnerships with clinical, government, community, and corporate partners; and be more competitive for high value awards and fellowships recognized as particularly prestigious by the Association of American Universities (AAU), the Top American Research Universities (TARU) and the Center for Measuring University Performance (CMUP). SPI advances scientific exploration, creative expression, and the production of new knowledge. 


Often handling sensitive information and complex tasks, the Associate To position plays a pivotal role in 1. The high-level management of the calendar and workflow of the Associate Vice President for Research (AVPR): Strategic Programs & Initiatives, and 2. The administration of select strategic programs within the portfolio of the AVPR. The position ensures Office of Research leadership advances and achieves Next Lives Here, Research2030, and Urban Futures Pathway goals and objectives. 
The SP&I Associate To will be responsible for administering select programs in the Urban Futures Pathway—The Society & Culture (S&C) initiative including but not limited to the new Urban Futures Pathway Fellowship program, The DEI in Research program, the UC Coalition for Change' program, the Alliance for the Arts in Research Universities (a2ru) program, the ‘National Humanities Alliance’ (NHA) program, and the University Industry Partnership program (UIDP).


The SP&I Associate To is both administrative and participatory as both are necessary to ensure program success and deliverables are in alignment with and advance Next Lives Here, Research2030, and Urban Futures Pathway goals and objectives. 

This position requires someone who has critical thinking skills, organizational skills, project management skills, and executive level communication skills.

Essential Functions

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree in a related field

Eight (8) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement

Required Experience

Four (4) years of experience in a related field. Experience may require one (1) year supervision.

Some positions may require experience in university administration.
