Corrosion and Structural Engineer Location Hybrid remote in Washington, DC : R0111947 Hybrid San Diego, California, United States Washington, District of Columbia, United States Norfolk, Virginia, United States Full time Amentum is actively seeking a Corrosion and Structural Engineer to help maintain former Navy and Coast Guard ships. Locations for this role include San Diego, CA, Washington, DC, and Norfolk, VA. This role will be hybrid (combined remote and on-site). Estimate hiring salary range: $101-132k (salary rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data). For more detailed information on our Benefits and what it is like to work for Amentum: please visit our careers site: Essential responsibilities and daily duties will include: Verify tanks, voids, and spaces are gas free and tagged out for entry prior to entering tank and/or space for assessment. Contractor must conduct their own gas free and maintain their own gas free certifications through the performance period. Document the condition of the tank in accordance with applicable corrosion standards. Document all discrepancies in tanks and ship's structure by photographing in accordance with command photographic and security requirements. Enter assessment results in various databases and internal Amentum tracking spreadsheets and/or matrices. Generate required work tasks for corrective action. Provide the Amentum Maintenance Team and Naval Architecture Lead photographs and discrepancy reports of structures, spaces and tanks, along with recommendations and measurements. Provide written assessment reports with required supporting documents and recommendations per Branch report format mandated by applicable documents. Provide engineering solutions with respect to corrosion, coating, and structural issues in accordance with industry practices. Provide engineering adjudication with respect to corrosion, coating, and structural strength/coating issues found to the Lead Engineer. Report shipboard non-conformances regardless of origin. Provide objective evidence or supporting documents as OQE to Lead Engineer for risk mitigation. Provide work status update, charges, daily housekeeping on assigned job, and timekeeping administration. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in mechanical, structural, architectural/naval architectural, or related. 5 years of increasing engineering management responsibility is required, including at least two 2 years of ship and/or submarine construction, maintenance, and/or repair/overhaul experience. Industry-related experience in corrosion, inspection, and structural analysis or related experience. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to work onsite and remote. Ability to obtain a secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to obtain a secret clearance. Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS (up to 25%). Ability to obtain a United States Passport. Preferred Qualifications Navy or US Coast Guard ship maintenance experience. PMS 326
