Job description

The candidate will conduct research and development of a novel technology for in situ bioremediation of PCBs that employs PCB degrading microbes. Research technicques will include anaerobic and aerobic bacterial culturing, cryopreservation, scal-up in pilot-scale bioreactors, gas chromatographic analysis of organohalides and quantitative PCR. Training will be provided but laboratory research experience in microbiology is preferred. Candidate will also assist with lab management.

The successful applicant will join a vibrant community at IMET where labs address global marine issues using diverse approaches. In keeping with the strong IMET community, the Sowers Lab emphasizes a positive, collaborative work environment and values diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. This is a one-year term appointment with the possibility of renewal on an annual basis based on performance and funding.

Minimum requirements are a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and experience in microbiology and molecular biology.
