JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: Development Director
DEPARTMENT: Haskell Foundation
STATUS: Full-Time
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: (1) One
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
PAY RANGE: $75,000 to $80,000 (plus medical & dental benefits)

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW: Our mission is to support Haskell Indian Nations University as a national center for intertribal education, research and cultural programs. Money raised by the Haskell Foundation will assists with unmet needs of the university that are beyond appropriated funds provided by the Bureau of Indian Education.
POSITION SUMMARY: We are looking to hire an enthusiastic development director to secure financial support and ensure longevity in our organization. The development director will set and achieve fundraising goals, maintain knowledge of fundraisers' interests, and cultivate relationships with fellow employees and volunteers. You will be an active participant in fundraising events, undertake vision trips, and maintain our social media presence. The successful applicant will build lasting relationships with donors, and keep them informed on how their financial input is making Indian Country and the world we live in, a better place.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute fundraising plans, campaigns and events
- Develop digital fundraising strategy
- Manage the implementation of new development software
- Secure financial support from individuals, organizations, foundations and corporations
- Manage donor data, gifts and pledges, and other records in an accurate, timely and secure manner
- Ensure donor acknowledgements and other correspondence are sent in a timely manner
- Prepare and deliver donor reports, presentations, and other materials as required
- Assist in the preparation of grant applications and other fundraising proposals
- Research and identify prospective new donors and proactively initiate sponsorship and secure funding
- Plan and facilitate meetings and other events, including managing guest lists, registration, and other event logistics, budgets and timelines
- Training staff, interns and volunteers to involve in fundraising efforts
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, marketing, business administration or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of proven and successful experience in development or a related field preferably in an institution of higher learning required
- Proven success in securing and conducting face to face meetings for major solicitations
- Proven track record in creating and managing successful fundraising campaigns (capital campaigns included)
- Strong CRM database skills
- Excellent understanding of best practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, project management and social media platforms
- Experience managing multiple projects, coordination of events/activities, or arranging travel-related activities
- Team player, self-starter, interested in personal and professional growth
- Experienced in working with diverse groups and/or individuals
- Experience working with American Indians & Alaska Natives
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in finance, marketing, business administration or a related field
- 6-8 years of progressively responsible experience in institutional or non-profit development
- CFRE Certification or evidence working towards
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations
- Read, write, speak, and understand English
- Able to work in a fast paced, stressful environment often accompanied by multiple tasks with varying deadlines
