Sr. Associate Director of Constituent Engagement -- Gies College of Business Office of Advancement Job Summary Strategically guide activities related to organizing, developing, and delivering advancement messaging to various Gies Business constituent audiences. Fully utilizing and in collaboration with the Marcom team in the Gies College of Business, will oversee the design and implementation of support for individual fundraising, corporate engagement, alumni engagement, and comprehensive stewardship efforts.
Duties & Responsibilities Administration and Communications
- Develop and execute comprehensive annual communications plans for the advancement unit in close collaboration with advancement leadership. Ensure effective communication of college fundraising priorities through diverse channels, including print, web, and digital platforms.
- Provide strategic oversight of targeted digital communications, including platforms such as ThankView, to enhance engagement and outreach.
- Successfully direct and manage complex communications projects, fostering collaboration among team members, Gies Marcom team, and campus advancement staff.
- Contribute to the design and composition of donor and corporate proposals, written solicitations, personalized acknowledgment letters, and stewardship materials.
- Oversee and maintain the master communications calendar for Gies Advancement, ensuring strategic alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
- Exercise day-to-day oversight of gathering and preparing information for communication channels, including the website, newsletters, marketing materials, and social media. Ensure consistency and alignment with marketing and communication goals.
- Establish and implement processes to maintain consistency, clarity, cost efficiency, and high-quality standards in advancement communications.
- Set deadlines, manage approvals, and ensure the timely completion of communication projects.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the Marcom team, facilitating effective communication and collaboration to implement advancement marketing and communication plans.
- Demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness in identifying and executing new projects and opportunities.
- Stay informed about current marketing trends, identifying opportunities and capabilities to reach donor and alumni audiences effectively.
- Undertake other related duties as assigned.
Data and Metrics
- Analyze, measure, and report on the performance of Gies advancement marketing and communications in collaboration with Advancement leadership and stakeholders.
- Present insights and recommendations derived from data analysis to inform advancement marketing and communications strategies and tactics. Identify new opportunities for improvement.
- Provide counsel to the Gies Chief Advancement Officer and Advancement leadership based on communication data analysis and insights.
Management
- Train and supervise staff to ensure a high level of competency and efficiency.
- Assign and review work, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
- Five (5) years (60 months) of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, alumni engagement, and/or stewardship.
- Experience in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience working in advancement or non-profit sector.
- Experience working for a large, complex organization or higher education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers and to supervise the work of others.
- Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills
- Ability to work effectively within a complex organizational structure that includes faculty, administration and staff across many organizations, departments and programs
- Quality-driven, results-focused approach to work, and a strong attention to detail with an ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Highest standards of professionalism, including tact, discretion, and a customer service-oriented approach to the job
- Passion for team-based work with clear dedication for fostering positive, collegial relationships
- Strong sense of initiative with good judgment on when to work independently and when to involve the team
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communications plans
Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5004 - Marketing Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search close date. Salary is commensurate with experience, with the base salary starting at $75,000. Position may work in a remote or hybrid arrangement as agreed upon by supervisor.
