About the role: Gen3 is currently looking for an Senior System Security Specialist with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in analyzing and defining security requirements in support of the MD State Board of Elections. In this role, you will be responsible for addressing Multilevel Security (MLS) issues, designing solutions, and implementing MLS requirements. Your expertise will contribute to the development of MLS solutions and involve daily supervision of staff.
Location : Hybrid, remote in Annapolis, MD 21401 and Glen Burnie MD alternately. Two days on-site and three days remote, Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST). Must be available after hours as needed.
What you'll do: - Analyze and define security requirements for MLS issues.
- Design, develop, engineer, and implement solutions to MLS requirements and solutions.
- Gather and organize technical information about an organization's mission goals and needs in the MLS arena.
- Perform risk analyses, including risk assessment.
- Provide daily supervision and direction to staff.
What you'll need: - Education : Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related discipline. Master's Degree preferred.
- Certification : Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Cyber Forensic Professional (CCFP).
- General Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in analyzing and defining security requirements.
- Team Management Experience: Minimum of three (3) years leading or managing cybersecurity analyst teams, including reviewing, and approving work products, and reporting to executive management.
- Defining Security Requirements: At least five (5) years of specialized experience in defining computer security requirements for high-level applications, evaluating approved security product capabilities, and developing solutions to MLS problems.
- NIST Experience : At least two (2) years of practical experience with implementing NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) and/or NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), including NIST 800-53 controls.
- IT Project Management: Minimum of three (3) years of successful project management experience in IT-related cybersecurity projects delivered on time and on budget.
What's Desired to Have: - Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- Advanced project management certifications.
- Experience with additional cybersecurity frameworks.
- Familiarity with emerging trends and technologies in cybersecurity.
- Prior experience supporting state or federal government agencies.
