Scientist II Home & Fabric Care
IFF is seeking a highly motivated Scent Technology and Innovation Scientist to join our team. The position will provide new fragrance creations, concepts, and solutions to our Fabric and Home Care technology.
Key focus will be on Fragrance and Delivery Systems technical development that will be used in IFF Global and Regional projects, including leveraging new Fragrance technologies and technical understanding, which clearly meet defined needs of consumers and / or customers. The outcome of this work will be new products and product / ingredient insights and fragrance solutions that provide IFF with opportunities for profitable growth.
Job Requirements
- Product and Innovation Management
- Design & conduct complex technical work in the areas of fabric and home care applications (detergents, fabric conditioners, cleaners, air care products and devices, disinfectants, etc.)
- Develop a deep understanding of technical areas relevant to projects and utilize this knowledge to contribute to value-creating solutions & insights
- Partner with cross functional teams and V2M teams to translate technologies into commercially ready solutions
- Actively promote IFF tools, innovations and capabilities tailoring them to specific needs of customers. Adapt and strengthen claims and build relevant Value Propositions.
- Drive IP Strategy for focused initiatives to maximize IFF's competitive position
Talent Management
- Optimize team performance through excellent leadership, goal setting, coaching and development.
- Identify and develop talent to elevate the technical and innovation knowledge as well as leadership competencies of the team.
Communication & Teamwork
- Provide Senior management with clear updates on various initiatives.
- Liaise with various internal cross functional and cross-divisional colleagues and external collaborators.
- Foster a collaborative mindset and build a relationship of trust with other fragrance functions (Perfumers, Scent Design, Marketing, Consumer Insights) to enrich and accelerate the creative process.
- Demonstrate good written and communication skills.
Required Experience
- BS/MS & a minimum 4-7 years’ experience in the fragrance industry and/or industrial food, pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic, &/or consumer goods companies
- Proven track record of designing experiments and problem-solving
- Good understanding of physical chemistry and fragrance modeling and delivery systems
- Proven record of contribution to IP
- Proven record of incorporating technology/innovation into product development
- Project Management skills
- Knowledgeable in lab safety, relevant application, fragrance ingredients, raw materials, & chemical processes
