Job description

Position Specifics:

Department: Sales & Marketing

Reports to: VP of Sales & Marketing

Supervises:

Purpose:

Manage the sales activities for Small & Mid Ag customers and products including the implementation of the Sales Department objectives and sales processes for complete goods. Responsible for all sales metrics for the segment. Attracts, retains, and effectively coaches department personnel, if applicable.

Responsibilities:

o Manages and coaches sales professionals in the small and mid ag markets

o Ensures sales metrics and goals are met for small and mid ag markets

o Ensures that a consistent sales process is followed

o Ensures the sales document process is established and followed by sales team members for their region or customer segment

o Subject Matter Expert in Government Sales for the entire dealership

o Develops the Government Sales business plan and reviews progress regularly


o Maintains relationship and acts as Single Point of Contact with John Deere Government Business Manager

o Identifies developmental gaps and provide training on key Governmental sales skills (e.g. use of John Deere contracts and understanding bids)


o Develops and executes the Sales Department metrics and goals for Government segment

o Provides input to the Marketing Manager in the development of the wholegoods marketing strategy for their region or customer segment

o Works with other Division Sales Managers to identify and execute best practices


o Works with Corporate Service and Corporate Parts Managers to promote customer satisfaction

o Manages budgets for a specific region or customer segment, in alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives

o May develop and implement incentives plans for sales team and customers

o May assist with creating the Sales Department business plan


o May oversee used and new wholegoods inventory levels and metrics

Requirements:


o 3+ years sales experience, 1+ years sales management experience

o Familiar with John Deere and competitive products

o Proven managerial ability including leading, coaching, and developing others

o Ability to define and implement sales processes


o Ability to use Deere sales computer applications and tools

o Ability to use software applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions

o Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports

o Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups

o Associates or Bachelors Degree in business or marketing or equivalent experience
