Job description

Primary Function:
Process and inspect routine castings through Fluorescent penetrant inspection to ensure compliance
with company and customer specifications.

Tools and Equipment:
Fluorescent penetrant unit, blueprints.

Material:
Aluminum, copper and brass castings, inspection stamps, Fluorescent penetrant solution.

Direction of Others:
None

Working Procedure:
With guidance and direction from the Final Inspector A - Fluorescent Penetrant, and the Quality
staff, the Final Inspector B - Fluorescent Penetrant
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF
OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT.
1 Shall adhere to all safety requirements as posted on the job safety card.
2 Shall consistently follow all applicable work instructions.
3 Shall receive daily work assignments from the department supervisor or lead person.
4 Shall follow sampling plan requirements as per SQAP, or other designated sampling plan.
5 Shall process castings through the liquid penetrant inspection operation, including immersion,
rinsing, and drying, as prescribed in the instructions in the non destructive inspection folders.
6 Shall process and interpret castings per established company and customer standards.
7 Shall accept or reject casting(s), or lots, based on results of the inspection technique used.
8 Shall faithfully apply all applicable SPECS., and report any apparent deviations to the Quality
Assurance Manager, Quality Engineer, or department supervisor.
9 Shall attend and successfully complete hazardous material / waste handling classes.
10 Must successfully complete Level II certification in Fluorescent penetrant inspection within twelve (12)
months from start date.
11 Must be able to read and interpret routine blueprints and casting drawings, including symbols.
12 Shall maintain all necessary inspection records and files, in addition to a variety of logs, where
accuracy is paramount.
13 Shall maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition, and keep noise level to a minimum.
14 Shall attend and successfully complete lockout / tagout training.
15 Shall periodically replenish the penetrant solutions as required.
16 Shall safeguard the use of the stamp(s) issued to them, as outlined in the Final Inspection
instructions.
17 Shall perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:
A clean working environment, free of most contaminants, with a minimum amount of noise.

Special Skills Required:
Must pass a Level 1 certification in Fluorescent penetrant inspection and magnetic particle inspection.
Must be able to distinguish colors.
Must have 20 / 25 near vision (correctable).
Must be able to handle the physical demands of the job.
