Position Summary: 

The Managing Director of Finance is a key member of the leadership team for the organization and works directly with the Executive Director and Board of Directors. This organizational role helps provide strategic direction as well as maximizing the use of organizational assets to support IWI operations and accomplish the defined mission and goals of Investments & Wealth Institute (IWI). The Managing Director of Finance manages the daily and strategic direction of financial activities. This position is also responsible for managing the investment portfolio, as directed by a sub-committee of the Board of Directors.    

Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned) 

Leadership Responsibilities: 

• Directs the planning, organizing, coordinating of staff, programs and activities of the association to assure that objectives are attained, plans fulfilled, and stakeholder needs met.   
• Assists the CEO in recommending and formulating new strategies and making adjustments to existing strategies as they have been approved by the Board of Directors.   
• Through management and leadership, achieve organizational outcomes: growth in certified-member professionals, growth of IMCA’s relevance, value, and quality reputation.   
• Provide the necessary liaisons and staff support for committee chairpersons and their committees to enable them to properly perform their functions, as assigned by the CEO. 
• In cooperation with departmental & executive leadership, develop, recommend, approve and implement the annual budget and ops plan. Apply sound financial management of all department activities.  
• Supervise accounting department staff and general oversight and management of all department activities. 
• Carry out such other general responsibilities as may be delegated by the CEO.  

Accounting, Audit, Tax, Budgeting and Finance, Audit & Investment Committee: 

• Manages and provides strategic planning for all financial, tax, audit, budget and accounting functions of the organization.  Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, bank regulations, taxing authorities and other applicable standards.  Presents financial information to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors. 
• Manages the accurate and timely preparation and submission of all financial statements, board reports, tax returns and regulatory filings. 
• Manages all aspects of the annual budgeting process.  Directs senior management in the preparation of budget assumptions; manages the budget preparation and approval process.   
• Manages external and internal audits and relationships with audit firms.   
• Manages development and implementation of related policies, procedures and internal operating controls.  Directs the internal audit functions and monitors adherence.  Serves as liaison to the board’s Finance, Audit and Investment Committee  
• Works with the board’s Finance, Audit and Investment Committee in managing all aspects of asset/liability management and investments.   
• Monitors liquidity and cash flow, presents analysis and options for Board, oversees execution of buys and sells for investment portfolio, maintains all investment accounting records and files. 
• Prepares Finance, Audit and Investment Committee packets, responsible for meeting minutes. 

Education and Experience: 

• Bachelors or equivalent degree in business, accounting or finance.   
• Masters of Accountancy or CPA strongly preferred.   
• Seven or more years of experience in a non-profit organization participating in and supervising employees performing duties that involved accounting and auditing functions. 

Skills, Abilities: 

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures, specifically to include those related to non-profit accounting. 
• Knowledge of sound practices associated with internal controls, auditing procedures and security. 
• Financial analysis and forecasting skills and solid knowledge of earned/deferred accounting tools. 
• Knowledge of trends and best practices in applied technology. 
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills 
• Decision-making skill 
• Application of analytical skills to improve and support operations 
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

IWI has a hybrid workplace in Greenwood Village, CO.

Salary range is $140,000 - $150,000 and is dependent on experience.
