Job description

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer for a well-run, peninsula based precision manufacturing/ Machine shop/CNC manufacturing firm in the Redwood City area.

We are open to ENTRY LEVEL or JUNIOR candidates with 1 or more years, working directly in a Quality department or similar function - This is not a LEAD/Super senior role either...Mid -senior candidates are targeted as well, but junior candidates are welcomed to apply.

We can consider a Degreed QUALITY ENGINEER, or a Sr QUALITY TECHNICIAN....Either works, as long as the candidate has the right experience.

Position Level: Junior to Mid-level

What You Will Be Doing

In this role you will work to establish and maintain the quality system and processes in compliance with ISO and AS Standards in support of the manufacture of precision metal components.

"Responsible for internal audit of the QMS (ISO9001 and soon to be AS9100)
"Responsible to managing the calibration system for all gage system (hundreds of them when you count micrometers and such)
"Supervise some of the inspection activity, daily reports on output, yields, etc&
"Manage (initiate, document, follow-up and close) internal and external non conformance with operations, suppliers and customers (with help)
"Assist with inspection activity as required.

Some of the additional Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
"Administer various quality system functions for document control throughout the factory.
"Perform quality system audits per ISO and or AS standards.
"Update a tool calibration database in an ERP system.
"Help create monthly quality reports with MS Office.
"Update procedures/work instructions for the QMS.
"Interact with manufacturing & engineering personnel to create balloon prints and develop quality control plans.
"Interact with inspection personnel to create First Article Inspection Reports.
"Generate and maintain NCMR, CAR, and SCAR documents in an ERP system.

What You Need for this Position

Essential Desire/Required Skills:
With the role being on the JUNIOR/ENTRY LEVEL end of the spectrum, the experiences listed below are DESIRED skills....we don't need a pro, or even much experience with the following, but the more the better:

" Seeking sufficient relevant experience (ISO9001/AS9100)
" Looking for those who have worked in manufacturing environment, ideally metal working ( CNC, Stamping, fabrication, etc. a plus)
" Those with Continuous improvement/ statistical skills (i.e. six sigma trained) and hands on type of person.

Quality Technician level profiles are required to have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent. Ideally some college level education with focus on math and science.
"Basic Skills in Microsoft Office application (Word, Excel)
"Good Mathematics skills, statistical analysis preferred (i.e. Six sigma, SPC, etc..)
"Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
"Read and interpret blue prints with GD&T.
