Position Summary

Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine is accepting internal applications for the position of Chairperson in the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.

This position offers the opportunity to direct one of the University’s most successful specialty clinical departments. The Department also has a robust teaching mission that encompasses the education of undergraduate, graduate (DO), and professional students. The chairperson is the academic, research, and clinical leader of the largest and most renowned Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine department in the world.

We are seeking candidates with a DO degree from an internationally recognized institution with experience in leadership, administration, and team-building skills. Responsibilities will include evaluation and management of all department clinical, academic and research enterprises. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will maintain and expand both a dynamic clinical enterprise as well as an active, extramurally funded research program. Scholarly work opportunities will be encouraged and supported.

In addition, the successful candidate will have a strong focus on training future leaders in medicine. The Chairperson is expected to work with the faculty to foster an environment that is conducive to academic, clinical and research excellence and promotes engagement and collaboration with other units at the University. An interest in faculty development and mentoring is expected.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Doctor of Osteopathy

Minimum Requirements

MSU faculty with a paid appointment at MSU and a primary appointment in the College of Osteopathic Medicine are eligible to apply. Candidates should have a D.O. degree from a U.S. college of osteopathic medicine. Board certification in Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine or a related field is required. Candidates must be qualified to hold the rank of Associate or full Professor in the Tenure or Health Profession system.
