Job Duties and Responsibilities DISH Wireless is seeking a determined, innovative self-starter to elevate the Android/iOS/Linux Device Certification process with useful insight into 4G/5G protocol, testing methodologies, product architecture, and certification requirements. As part of the Device Engineering department, we’ll partner with Network engineering, OEMs, third-party vendors, and product managers to launch 5G devices and solve customer problems in an agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute defined/applicable sanity test cases for new and regression software loads as provided by OEM across the entire device portfolio
- Support OEM Technical Lead with new technology trial execution, as needed
- Provide input into technical approval publication sent to OEM for each new software release
- Perform testing in the lab and field to help certify devices
- Work individually or with the team to collect and analyze device logs to root-cause issues
- Perform testing and validation as needed to help development teams bring up 5G networks in new markets
- Validate existing and new test tools, frameworks, and methodologies for delivering high-quality solutions for device certification and device lifecycle management
- Provide input and ideas for establishing new processes that empower the Device Engineering team
Skills, Experience and Requirements Education and Experience:
- Degree in Electrical, Computer, Telecommunications Engineering or related field of study (Bachelor or Masters)
- 0-2 years of experience in the wireless telecom industry with a service provider, and/or device OEM architecting and deploying end-to-end cellular services to connected devices
- 2+ years in a deep technical role, as an engineer/architect, R&D systems, product management, and/or related area
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency with device requirements, test plans, and end-to-end solutions for 4G/5G architecture across RAN and Core network
- Proficiency with 4G/5G device services (e.g. IMS/ SMS/ RCS/ eUICC /SIM/ OTA-DM/ VoLTE/ VoNR/ VoWiFi/ e911/ RTT/ CMAS) and associated device chipset and core networking architectures and technologies
- Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas is a plus
- L2/L3 including MAC/RLC/PDCP/SDAP and control signaling (e.g. RRC/NAS)
- Carrier Aggregation and Dual-Connectivity in SA / NSA, and legacy LTE networks
- E2E Call Flows including handover support across EPS, and 5GC
- E2E Call Flows VoNR and EPS Fallback
- Design E2E Call Flows for N3IWF / ATSS / ANDSP
- Proficiency with IMS/ SMS/ MMS/ Supplementary Calls/ VoWiFi
- Experience with testing mobile devices, modules, and enterprise routers
- Experience with bug-tracking systems, such as Jira
- Experience with testing tools, like QXDM, QCAT, PCAT, ELT, ShannonDM, Accuver (XCAL/XCAP)
- Experience with automation test environments, like Keysight and/or Rhode & Schwarz
- Curious mindset striving for continuous learning and innovation
- Proven problem-solving skills; verbal and written communication skills are essential
- Experience in a high-availability, fast-paced environment
- Willing to travel 20-30% of the time – to validate device features, collect logs and participate in debugging sessions
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and cooperate in teams, projects, and cross-functionally to achieve results
Salary Ranges Compensation: $72,400.00/Year - $118,900.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
