About the Center for Empowered Politics (CEP) and CEP Education Fund
The Center for Empowered Politics and the sister organization the Center for Empowered Politics Education Fund builds movement ecosystem(s) of people of color-led grassroots organizations and community-based electoral organizations to deepen our experiments and sustain the long-term participation and leadership of working-class communities of color.

Our aim is to grow the power of our communities toward greater resilience and governing power through strategic partnerships and movement infrastructure. Our approach is practitioner-led, grounded in our experience as organizers, the needs of our communities, and the political imperative to scale up our power and impact.

Position Overview:
Work closely with the Center for Empowered Politics (CEP) / CEP Education Fund Leadership Team on the strategy, design, learning, and evaluation of interventions to strengthen organizational resiliency, sustain and develop movement staff, and sharpen our collective interventions. This position will be part of the Program Director Team and will be supervised by the Senior Program Director.

The ideal candidate will bring strong writing skills, familiarity with managing or conducting mixed-methods research, an understanding of organizational development, and a deep commitment to grassroots organizing and power building. Most importantly they bring a desire to learn, experiment, and capture and share lessons as an essential component of building resilient movements.

Role and Responsibilities:
Field Building (70%)

• Lead research collaborations, data collection (scans, surveys, interviews, focus groups, field notes), and the development of reports to explore specific issues, arenas, or trends within the power building field.
• Build and refine processes to track and measure outcomes and lead internal team evaluations and assessments of programs and interventions
• Create accessible tools and documentation of key lessons for the field drawing from our interventions as well as other network and movement partners
• Provide project management, training, coordination and facilitation support for aligned organizations, coalitions, and funder collaboratives

Strategic Partnerships (20%)

• Lead and manage accompaniment work with partner organizations for long term movement ecosystem development through multifaceted support to build capacity, infrastructure, strategy or organizational development (coaching, trainings, strategy sessions, program design, strategic planning, etc.)

Organizational Leadership (10%)

• Participate in CEP/CEPEF staff and organization building, including team and relationship building spaces, strategy and workplan development, and alignment and learning across projects
• Support and participate in programs, committees, and organization-wide activities as needed

Key Qualifications
As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in the core values of CEP, CEPEF and be driven by our mission. The candidate should demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground to lead social change.

Beyond that, we are seeking a candidate that has proven experience in:

• 5-7 years in a director level staff position within a movement building organization (grassroots, labor, or community organizing)
• Rooted in an analysis of power and the role of basebuilding leadership development, campaigns, and civic engagement work in creating social change
• Strong writer with demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences across multiple writing styles and forms
• Research experience, including qualitative data collection and analysis (experience with quantitative data analysis a plus)
• Ability to communicate ideas and research to a variety of audiences (funders, director staff, frontline staff, etc.).
• Self-directed and able to design, launch, and manage projects across a range of organizations and sectors
• Ability to think strategically and make assessments of opportunities and threats within the political landscape
• Experience with online tools for remote communication and project collaboration

Physical Demands

• Able to work on a computer, including sitting at a desk, for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other equipment
• Able to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
• Able to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in person and be understood by others.
• Able to hear and understand speech at typical levels and on the telephone.
• Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Work Environment
This is a remote role (preference for San Francisco Bay Area or California). Regardless of home location, employees should expect to attend in-person events in the Bay Area or other national travel approximately 6-8 times/year.

Compensation
This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary range is $95,000 - $104,000 depending on experience. We offer a competitive health benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, and a generous paid time off schedule.
