As we look to expand our talented team, we are seeking an experienced Immigration Legal Assistant who is deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of our clients.
The Immigration Legal Assistant will play a vital role in supporting our attorneys by managing and preparing critical documents related to immigration removal defense, including the filing of motions, asylum applications, cancellations of removal, waivers, and petitions. The ideal candidate will possess a detailed understanding of the intricacies of immigration law, with a particular emphasis on removal defense strategies.
**Must be bilingual - English and Spanish**
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file a wide range of immigration documents, with a strong focus on removal defense cases, including but not limited to motions, asylum applications, cancellations of removal, waivers, and petitions.
- Conduct detailed legal research to support case preparation and strategy development in removal defense cases.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive case files, ensuring all relevant information is readily accessible for attorneys.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and documents, providing updates on case progress as needed.
- Collaborate with attorneys to develop and implement effective case strategies.
- Stay informed of changes and developments in immigration law, with a focus on policies and procedures related to removal defense.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Immigration Legal Assistant, with a specialization in immigration removal defense.
- In-depth knowledge of immigration law and procedures, particularly regarding removal defense.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
- Compassionate and client-focused, with a commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of those we serve.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field preferred.
- Bilingual abilities (especially in Spanish) are highly valued.
