Job Summary
The Senior Marketing Communications Lead is responsible for creating and delivering communications programs that positively impact the company’s reputation and strategic growth initiatives. You will support the Communications team to promote and protect our brand to advance the growth of our business internationally. You will be responsible for telling the PowerSchool product & innovation story including developing and executing our external communications strategy including messaging, media relations, thought leadership, and executive platform development. This includes driving stories spotlighting PowerSchool’s AI leadership, product news, and platform vision across technology trade, education trade, national and international broadcast, business and news media. Additionally, you will manage the strategy and execution of the company’s product & innovation awards program and speaker’s bureau to ensure messaging consistency and presence across the most influential education and technology awards and events.
Responsibilities

- Responsible for the development of story angles, messaging and media pitches to drive earned media coverage that increases brand and product innovation affinity and awareness.
- Driving collaboration across internal stakeholders, including social media, product marketing, engineering, investor relations and others to ensure external messaging is accurate, consistent and aligned.
- Owning and executing against the communications plan and strategy as part of broader events, communications, and customer advocacy initiatives.
- Responsible for monthly and quarterly measurement and reporting to measure impact of communications campaigns and earned media coverage.
- Driving internal communications regarding PR strategy and impact, including weekly newsletter to executive leadership team highlighting key wins.
- Identify industry product and corporate award opportunities for PowerSchool and managing submission and tracking process.
- Track and manage speaking opportunities at tier 1 events to ensure spokespeople are prepped and content is approved for external audiences
Qualifications

Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in PR, communications, journalism, or relevant field
- 5-8 years’ experience working in public relations or related field, tech industry or K-12 education industry knowledge and experience preferred.
- Demonstrated writing ability and excellent grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills; ability to write about education and technology topics; ability to draft, create and proof high-quality content for external audiences.
- Strong understanding of communications channels, including their purpose, potential and best practices for engagement.
- Demonstrated experience delivering effective and innovative media activities and campaigns.
- Knowledge of the technology industry with the ability to quickly learn the education technology landscape and customer mindset.
- Strong understanding of analytics with the ability to generate, analyze and interpret data.
- Understanding and appreciation of integrated marketing and communications efforts especially as it pertains to earned media and owned channels.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and under tight deadlines in a team and hybrid work environment.
- Ability to lead and manage multiple projects across multiple lines of business.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, takes initiative and works independently.
- Working in a PR agency experience preferred and/or management of an PR agency.
- Strong time management skills.
- Comfortable working in different styles of organizations including flat and matrixed.
- Positive and can-do attitude.
