Alexandria, LA Chief Psychiatrist Opportunity

The VA Medical Center in Alexandria, LA is seeking a full-time Physician to serve as Chief Psychiatry Service. Will be responsible for the overall administrative and clinical management, and supervision of Psychiatry Service staff including off-site Virtual and Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) Psychiatry employees. Provides direct patient care to the Inpatient and Outpatient units of Mental Health. This includes comprehensive psychiatric management of clinical needs. Complete admissions workups, daily rounding, discharges, and associated required documentation. Resolve patient complaints within Psychiatry Service. Support, practice, and promote Recovery-Oriented Mental Health services. Serves as a voting member of multiple mental health and facility-wide committees. Actively participates in Suicide Prevention Measures, Mental Health Treatment Planning, and other highly complex and time-sensitive priorities.

 Work Schedule Mon-Fri 8am -4:30pm. On call one week per month

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State.
• Board Eligible or Board Certified preferred
• Current practice in Psychiatry prescribing medications preferred
• Must be highly motivated, team-oriented, and committed to the care and good
  health for our Veterans
• Predictable work schedules and a focus on quality rather than volume.

• Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Up to $200,000 over 5-year period
