Job description

Network Technicians shall:

The Network Specialist/Engineer Shall:

Have a minimum two (2) years' experience working with local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), linking mission command systems listed in paragraph 2.0 with other C4I applications, and simulations. (Preferably the Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability ver 8.1
(JLCCTC).

Have three years' experience network administration, consulting, analyzing, designing, installing and maintaining computer software applications, hardware, telecommunications, or network infrastructure equipment.

Be Security Plus certified and have passed the Computing technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Security+ certification exam.

Possess, at a minimum, a secret clearance.

Possess a SECRET clearance

Network Technicians shall perform the following tasks.

Personnel shall conduct operational readiness tests prior to each scheduled training event or exercise to validate readiness of associated hardware, software, networks, and databases, correct all identified deficiencies prior to exercise start, and ensure all exercises begin and end as scheduled, subject to catastrophic equipment or network malfunctions beyond the scope of control.

The Personnel shall provide network technicians for systems administration and systems management support, system administration/management functions include:

a. Installation of software, managing user accounts, constructing communication files, conducting and archiving backup files, recovery, maintaining the technical library, secure operation and storage of encryption devices, and tuning systems parameters for optimal functioning.

b. Install, manage, maintain, and recover non NEC Wide Area Networks and Local Area Networks (WAN/LAN) to ensure timely operation of training and exercises, and ensure network security.

c. Ensure preparation, modification, use, verification and validation, configuration management, and storage of necessary training and exercise databases along with associated supporting documentation, gather and collect necessary training and exercise data IAW DMSO Modeling and Simulation Resource Repository (MSRR) and develop, conduct, publish, distribute, and store all AAR products on the digital media  provided by the MSC.

d. Maintain communication interfaces with established Army Mission Command Systems (MCS) to provide MCS services for training and exercises.

e. System administration and management is currently limited to the six (6) MCASP classrooms with current systems installed, future systems/version upgrades, and existing internal network infrastructure supporting each classroom.
