POSITION TITLE: Construction Controller
PAY STATUS: Non-exempt
SUPERVISES: N/A
PAY RANGE: $170,000- $175,000
A leading modular building contractor specializing in the design, construction, and installation of modular homes. With a commitment to quality, efficiency, and innovation, we provide turnkey solutions to meet our clients' needs. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Controller to join our team and contribute to our continued growth and success.
General Responsibility:
As a Construction Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial aspects of our construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, accounting teams, and senior management to ensure that projects are executed efficiently within budget constraints. Your expertise in construction accounting and financial management will be vital in maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring project costs, and providing strategic financial insights.
Significant Duties:
- Financial Planning and Analysis: Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets and financial forecasts.
Analyze project costs and financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
Provide regular financial reports and performance analysis to senior management. - Cost Control: Monitor project costs throughout the construction process and identify cost overruns or discrepancies.
Implement cost control measures and suggest corrective actions to keep projects on budget.
Review and approve project-related expenses and invoices. - Cash Flow Management: Manage project cash flows and ensure sufficient funds are available for project needs.
Forecast cash flow requirements and work with finance teams to ensure timely payments to subcontractors, suppliers, and employees. - Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit accurate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure compliance with industry-specific accounting standards and regulatory requirements. - Risk Management: Identify financial risks associated with construction projects and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Maintain insurance coverage and ensure claims are processed promptly. - Vendor and Subcontractor Relations: Negotiate contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and other service providers.
Review and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices for payment. - Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, accounting teams, and executives to provide financial guidance and support.
Participate in project meetings to address financial-related matters.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) certification is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in construction accounting and financial management.
- Proficiency in construction accounting software and financial modeling tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Knowledge of modular construction and related industry regulations is a plus.
- Sage 100 experience required
