Job description
ala, the premier location for Levantine Cuisine in the heart of old town Bethesda, is looking for experienced Bartender to manage its bar and mixology program. This is a full time position working evening and weekend Hours.

Ideal candidate we are looking for:
We are looking for candidates with good interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task and are team oriented. They will also bring a strong mixology background with them as they will have the opportunity to add their own signature to the existing cocktail program. This individual needs to be truly passionate about food, wine and spirits. Wine knowledge preferred. The ideal candidate will also have bar management duties including inventory and to pass knowledge onto other staff.
Our perfect candidate has:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a high volume, quality venue
- TIPS alcohol certification
- Extensive bar & cocktail knowledge
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication at all levels
- The ability to manage the situation under pressure and make decisions in real time
- The experience to operate at a high level under the direction of the management team
- Personal maturity to deal with confidential information and/or issues with discretion and sound judgement
- The capability to meet the physical and scheduling demands of the position, including walking, standing, or lifting heavy items for extended periods, and working nights, weekends, and holidays
Responsibilities:
- Interact with customers to develop loyalty and handle customer concerns; ensure that every guest receives the ala experience
- Assist to maintain operations by preparing and enforcing policies and standard operating procedures to increase productivity, maintain quality and patron-service standards
- Performs other restaurant side duties as requested by management and leadership team
- Determine and implement system improvements
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of beverages to meet set standards
- Maintain the organization, cleanliness and hygiene of bar, bar area and shelving, equipment and bar related storage
- Setting and enforcing quality and safety controls.
- Plan and take part in promotional events
- Assist in maintaining a fun, safe secure and healthy atmosphere and environment for patrons and staff
- Contribute to creating Signature Cocktails with the Beverage Director and leadership members
- Assess development needs and train and coach staff accordingly
- Ensure adherence to stock control procedures (e.g., first in, first out)
- Monitor and inventory all supplies needed for operations, including but not limited to liquor, beer, wine, cups, CO2.
- Exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
