Job description
The Opportunity
The Senior Manager of External Reporting assists the Director of External Reporting in overseeing the preparation, review, and filing of the Company’s obligation to report its annual and quarterly financial information with the Securities and Exchange Commission as well as the Ontario Securities Commission.
You Are Great At
- Manage a team of 4 employees in preparing the annual (10-K) and quarterly (10-Q) financial information
- Review 10-K and 10-Q to ensure their reporting of both quantitative and qualitative disclosures is free of material errors and omissions
- Review reconciliation schedules and various audit paperwork to agree to Notes in the 10-K and 10-Q
- Perform various ad-hoc analyses to audit the financial results
- Coordinate with various teams, internally and externally, as needed, to gather and review information specific to the filings.
- Review various financial statements prepared by the external reporting team including the statement of cash flows, equity statement, income statement, and balance sheet.
- Coordinate with HR and Variable Compensation to manage the financial accounting aspects of the company’s share-based compensation plans
- Assist in the preparation of the compensation discussion and analysis for the Company, in compliance with U.S Exchange Act rules
- Assist in the preparation of Management’s discussion and analysis for the Company, in compliance with U.S Exchange Act rules
- Collect supporting schedules to assist auditors in their audit of the 10-K and review of the 10-Qs
- Review materials produced by Investor Relations (where it relates to a financial matter)
- Assist with SOX compliance
- Special projects and ad hoc reporting analysis as required
What It Takes
- Accounting-related university degree and CPA designation
- Strong understanding of US GAAP
- Strong understanding of US Securities rules and regulations
- 7-10 years of working experience
- Exceptional written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact well at senior management levels
- Attention to detail and adherence to SOX processes essential
- Organized with an ability to balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
This job is expected to pay in the range of $125,000 to $155,000 USD in addition to a comprehensive and competitive group benefit and healthcare plan. Individual compensation will be determined based on skills and experience comparable to the job requirements.
