Job description

Primary Function:

The Production Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the company's manufacturing processes and daily operations. Optimizes processes between Production, Compounding, and the Warehouse department for maximum efficiency and achieves quality standards on the 2nd shift. Assists in ensuring production processes stay within budgets and deadlines while implementing measures to reduce waste and increase profitability.

_ Key Responsibilities: _

PURCHASING:

· Print daily inventory unit activity report for all packaging components (containers, closures, IFCs and shippers

· Order components as indicated in report.

· Order packaging samples for new product development and/or product improvement

· Coordinate with foreign customers to ensure timely arrival of packaging components

INVENTORY:

· Track and update packaging inventory as necessary

· Prepare and distribute Weekly Inventory Stock Status Reports

RECEIVING:

· Inspect each new packaging component shipment to ensure it is correct.

· Count and assign Tropichem Control Numbers to all shipments of packaging components

· Perform and document inspection of outer packaging of components. Refuse any shipments showing evidence of damage or contamination.

· Write Receiving Reports for every incoming shipment.

QUALITY:

· Work with the Quality Unit to ensure all packaging components meet current specifications. If any non-conformance or discrepancies are discovered, notify and work with supplier, customer and Quality Unit to resolve and prevent future issues.

· If packaging components do not meet specifications and are rejected by the Quality Manager, coordinate return shipments, credits and follow all CAPA action plans.

SHIPPING & RECEIVING:

· Inspect all incoming components and outgoing products for damage and/or defects.

· Ensure that all outgoing products meet customer requirements (correct pallet, palletizing, paperwork, etc.)

· Ensure all responsible parties receive paperwork as required

· Check component invoices for accuracy before acceptance

· Load and unload all trucks

· Fill customer product orders as required from warehouse stock

· Ensure that all raw materials, components, in-process and finished goods movement are done physically and electronically

PACKAGING:

· Track and update inventory as necessary

· Supply Filling Room with necessary packaging and shipping components

· Secure completed pallets with shrink wrap

· Supply Lab with requested packaging components for testing

MISCELLENEOUS:

· Keep warehouse clean and free from debris and potential safety hazards

· Perform daily, weekly, monthly, 6 months, yearly inventory cycle count.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, Bachelors degree preferred or at least two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

· At least three years supervisory experience in manufacturing setting

· Certificates, licenses, and registrations required: Forklift Certification

· Computer skills required: Inventory Software; Microsoft Office Suite; SAP

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong project management skills

· Proven record in training employees about safety and production

· Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations

· Ability to coach and motivate employees

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

This position requires flexibility in the evening shift. Hours of operations are Monday through Friday, 3pm-12:30am. Ocassional weekends as needed.
