Castalia Systems is seeking a Network Technician (Tier II) in the Santa Clara, CA area.
A qualified candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:
- Support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices.
- Respond to and resolve incident tickets.
- Draft and implement standard network change requests.
- Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs), and coordinate and install new equipment).
- Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory.
- Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
- Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), Port Security, and Thin Configurations).
Security Clearance Requirement:
Active/current TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and 16+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree and 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
- Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals.
- Working knowledge of layer 2 switching concepts.
- Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes.
- Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, Single Mode (SM)/Multimode (MM) Fiber, Serial cables, Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP).
- Knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) models.
- Knowledge of Cisco Internetworking Operating System (IOS), Juniper JUNOS, and the Brocade and Foundry Operating System (OS).
- Familiarity (doesn’t need to be a SME) with Layer 3 protocols such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP), Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), Multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), Language Server Protocol (LSP), and Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, ServiceNow, and Atlassian Confluence.
- Working knowledge of Service Now or similar IT Service Management (ITSM) products.
