Job description
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our dynamic healthcare team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing support to surgical procedures, ensuring a safe and sterile environment, and contributing to the overall success of our surgical team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree: Certificate in Surgical Technology.
- Education: Graduate from a Surgical Technology program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES, or completion of a formal training program provided by any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces for surgical technicians, technologists, or operating room technicians.
- Certification: Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA, or certified as a Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from NCCT, or possess a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical technician and/or operating room technician.
- Experience: One year of experience as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician after graduation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Surgical Preparation:
- Perform sterile techniques, set up surgical trays, and prepare patients for surgery.
- Ensure proper cleaning and packing of surgical packs for sterilization after each procedure.
- Environment Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in clinical spaces, operating rooms, and medical equipment.
- Actively participate in cleaning responsibilities or guide other personnel in environmental maintenance.
- Communication and Documentation:
- Immediately report events to the registered nurse in charge and document notifications.
- Serve as a member of the surgical team, providing support for a range of surgical procedures.
- Patient Care:
- Transport patients from hospital units to the operating room, ensuring safe transportation and screening patients before transport.
- Check rooms for cleanliness, set up special equipment, and run checks on operating tools and equipment.
- Surgical Assistance:
- Assist in the preparation of patients and operating rooms for surgery.
- Hand instruments to the surgeon during procedures, anticipate surgeon's needs, and respond to emergencies.
- Post-Surgical Duties:
- Clean operating rooms, dispose of soiled materials, change linen, wash instruments, and assemble them for sterilization.
- Replenish sterile supplies, restock shelves, and perform first echelon maintenance on all OR equipment.
Staffing and Scheduling:
- Monday through Friday between the hours of 0730 and 1630.
