Together we design and build manufacturing processes that transform technology into products.The Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) Team has the responsibility for evaluating technologies and identifying supply chain solutions that allow Tech Ops to deliver products to market at scale. Tech Ops is seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) to manage a Optical Module MDE Team. We are looking for an individual willing to work independently to accomplish bold things. Specific hardware development and operations knowledge are required. As Optics MDE in the Devices organization, you will be responsible for both technically proficient work with the engineering design and Operations teams, for critical parts of optics components and module process development and manufacturing. You will collaborate across multiple projects with display, optic product designers to enable novel AR/VR experiences. You will be the interface between the Engineering, Supply Chain, and quality teams to implement and execute comprehensive process and technical solutions for our products.
Optical Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) Responsibilities:
- Drive manufacturing process innovation in Optic solutions for AR/VR products.
- Work with Hardware Engineering, Sourcing, Quality and Tech Ops Team to identify, audit and select the best suppliers’ partner (SPOR) to manufacture our products.
- Responsible for optic film lamination, coating, vision active alignment, lens manufacturing, minimizing foreign material contamination, die cut, laser cutting, lens/display coating process development (i.e. coating, IR ink development, optical coating).
- This team also partnered with Engineering on new technology integration, NPI to ramp.
- Interface with Hardware Engineering, Module Quality Team, Sourcing, APAC and suppliers for
- 1) Process DFM, process bring up and qualifications, 2) Develop MP intend equipment, process and materials, 3) Set CTQ criteria to validate key processes, 4) Optimize processes for cycle time reduction, automation, cost saving.
- Ability to run statistical analysis from data collected through trials & investigations.
- Work with the internal Quality Team to define quality characterization, inspection methodology, and qualification of components before components ship to downstream vendor.
- Work with hardware engineering, quality and Reliability Team to debug optical/display issues related to Display/Optics module development from NPI to ramp. Identify root cause and provide improvements via process optimization and qualifications.
- Traveling to vendor sites to validate and support development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS degree or higher in Optical or Display, Mechanical Engineering, chemical, Physics or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience and technical hands-on display and optical manufacturing.
- Experience working with cross functional leaders, and with less supervision, driving hard decision making.
- Experience with high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing, partnering with world-wide supply chain partners and contract manufacturers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- FEA, optical simulation skills.
- Fluent on using Powerpoint, Keynote & presentation skills.
- Experience with UGNX or other CAD programs.
- Experience with FMEA or other risk assessment methods.
