Connelly School of the Holy Child is a Catholic, college preparatory school, committed to the intellectual, spiritual, artistic, physical, and social development of young women in grades 6 through 12. The school emphasizes academic challenge, joy of learning, and education of well-rounded women of faith and action.
Responsibilities include:
· Teaching Middle School English and Social Studies courses
· Providing an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and the emotional development of young women
· Integrates technology effectively into reading, writing, and classroom practices
· Participating in the school community with other duties as assigned
· Working collaboratively with colleagues with the English department as well as colleagues from additional departments to align teaching practices
· Pursuing professional growth opportunities to continually grow as a English teacher in order to enhance student learning
· Responding to the needs of Holy Child, including service learning, advisory program, assigned supervision and other duties as assigned
· An active commitment to enhancing our school community through involvement on committees and in student life activities
· Effective and consistent communication with students, parents, staff, and community
· Develops, selects, and differentiates instruction to meet the needs of a diverse populations
· Providing an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and the emotional development of young women
· Using student choice in reading as well as teacher directed texts
· Maintaining appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
· Bachelor’s Degree in related field required with teaching experience in various levels of secondary education 6-12. Master’s Degree preferred; MSDE certification preferred
· Teaching experience at the middle grades level
· Mastery of English grammar, writing, and reading
· Ability to connect to students, to curriculum, to the world
· Commitment to embrace the school’s mission and values
· Genuine enthusiasm, personal warmth and passion for teaching and inspiring a love of learning
· Experience using a variety of pedagogical strategies
· Collaborative spirit to develop and plan curricula
· Proven experience engaging students in literary experiences that foster deeper thinking, collaboration, and shared responsibility.
