Job description
The Division of Chemistry in the Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences at Youngstown State University seeks an outstanding physical chemist specializing in computational chemistry at the tenure-track assistant professor rank with a research specialization that complements the strengths within the department and the college of STEM. Must be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate physical chemistry lecture and laboratory courses and to develop and sustain an externally funded research program involving undergraduate, MS students, and Materials Ph.D. students.
The YSU Division of Chemistry in the Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences is comprised of 12 full-time tenure track faculty, 2 lecturers, 4 staff members, over 50 majors in its BS and BA programs and an active MS program with 14 students. The department is exceptionally well-equipped in research instrumentation, and offers a rich, hands-on 'learning through research' experience for its students. As part of the College of STEM, the department also participates in the YSU Ph.D. program in Materials Science & Engineering .
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: None
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D in Physical Chemistry or closely related discipline by the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications: Post-doctoral and teaching experience; expertise in computational chemistry; strengths in the areas of materials, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and/or physical chemistries, and additive manufacturing.
