Job Description



Support the manufacturing of products by utilizing manufacturing equipment, in-process instrumentation and production documentation in accordance with current production methods, company policy and safety regulations.

  1. Conducts rapid, objective assessment and correction of manufacturing stoppages. Provide first line support to drive resolution of production issues through close collaboration with other functional groups (Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, Procurement, etc).
  2. Recommends production methods to the Manufacturing Engineers to achieve area production goals.
    • Monitors performance metrics and recommends continuous improvement opportunities.
    • Ensure local inventories, supplies and materials are available and up to date.
  3. Leadership
    • May lead direct reports in daily tasks, goals, and performance management.
    • Communicates well with area staff, Mfg Engineering, Production Planners, Programmers, and Managers.
    • Promotes open and positive dialogue with team members.
    • Demonstrates proper departmental authority for position and enforces policies and procedures.
  4. Assist in the installation and validation of new production equipment. Schedules routine maintenance. Keeps maintenance records and calibrations of existing equipment up to date.
  5. Assists with evaluation of performance of hourly employees and assists in the hiring process.
    • Assists in the development of area training within the department.
    • Supports employee development and evaluation for cross-training purposes.
    • Helps manage on-the-job training material.
  6. Provides training to new production personnel as needed and contributes to the development of work instructions.
  7. Coordinates production resources to facilitate work flow
    • Provides work direction to assure labor resources are fully utilized. Recognize resource constraints and resulting impact on orders. Plans and distributes future work
    • Finalizes work center dispatch and distributes appropriately
    • Maintains close collaboration with Manager/Planning to set schedule and coordinate unscheduled work activity
  8. Ensures that all production material/supplies/tools are available at point of consumption
    • Jointly supports material handling group to organize production material and supplies
    • Works with area technicians and other support functions to define/establish material presentation
    • Identifies material deficiencies and performs root cause analysis to minimize/eliminate out-of-stock occurrence. Works cross-functionally to implement solutions
    • Works with appropriate functions to synchronize material delivery schedules with production schedules
    • Works cross-functionally to ensure appropriate inventory level of local materials and supplies meet production volume requirements
    • Defines locations for projects based upon project requirements (when not defined by space planning)
    • Facilitates inventory counting for PSA locations
  9. Job Order Administration
    • Processes production order SAP transactions as required.
    • Conducts order changes in SAP to ensure accuracy of material transactions.
    • Job packet release/stage & distribution to ensure timely execution.
    • Works with area Manufacturing Engineer (ME) to help resolve QN’s, lot inspections, and project on-holds.
  10. Maintains processes and procedures, and associated documentation, ensuring efficient operation and quality in compliance with ISO 9001 requirements and corporate policies.
    • Review the Nonconformance data (Quality Notifications, Corrective Actions, material issues, etc.) in assigned area(s) to drive upstream improvements to eliminate cost of poor quality.
  11. Seeks correct information so that correct processes are carried-out and materials consumed match Drawings/Work Inst./BOM. Reports production impact via QN process.
    • Works cross-functionally to document Drawing/BOM errors and submits ECN request.
    • Implements temporary solutions while Drawing/BOM is getting changed.
    • Assist in developing new process documentation.
    • Technical contributor during new product concept and build support on prototype builds.
  12. Facility or local production area representative in charge while area leadership is not present. May oversee multiple areas or provide shift coverage.
  13. Added production capacity.
    • Temporarily fills-in to cover capacity voids and provides long-term added capacity to maintain production output.
    • Skill/knowledge flexibility to support multiple work cells or act as temporary lead.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
