Coeur is a fine dining restaurant in Ferndale, Michigan. At Coeur, we are rooted in a desire to serve delicious food that is envisioned and produced simply and cleanly. We source high-quality ingredients that are grown responsibly and sourced locally and seasonally so we can support the communities where we do business. We are looking for an experienced host who has experience with high volume, sophisticated properties and has knowledge of the Metro Detroit fine dining scene. 

The responsibilities of the host include:

• Answering and returning phone calls in regards to reservations, allergy questions, and all other guest relations.
• Insuring servers know what special requests, dietary constraints, etc. that their guests have.
• Rebuilding menu boards when there are changes to the menu.
• Collecting inventory of and organizing all menus
• Maintaining ambiance by controlling background music and guest flow.
• Handling guest inquiries and complaints.
• Assist’s all areas of FOH with opening and closing duties.

In addition to the above, we look for people that possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the role. We are always willing to train anyone with the right attitude and desire to grow, as you can't teach hospitality.

• A determined commitment to the service standards for all positions in the front of the house.
• The ability to remember names and faces of regular guests — and greet them by name.
• The flexibility to provide a high level of service to all guests.
• The ability to direct staff through modeling performance on the floor.
• The knowledge of the menu and its nuances that can help guests with restrictive diets.
• A passive ego that allows a guest to vent their issues without escalating the situation but rather, solving the problem to the guest’s enjoyment.
• The ability to empathize with staff members and help them develop to their next level. 

Our operation is employee focused, ensuring that all staff feel that they are valued and benefit from their job above and beyond the standard of financial motivators. In addition, we pay $15 an hour, as well as 4% of total tips, split amongst all hosts on duty.
