The VP of Biopharma Services is a position targeting pharmaceutical, biotechnology and manufacturers in oncology and rare/orphan therapies. The job incumbent’s mission is to generate new business, maintain/renew existing business, generate and support the close of business opportunities internally through development and implementation of targeted sales strategies, launch excellence and account management. Additionally, this role requires a deep understanding of the specialty pharmacy ecosystem and how Biologics’ by McKesson capabilities can be used to support successful partnerships and therefore driving sustainable long-term business growth. The VP of Biopharma Services will be expected to provide a consultative approach in support of growing the following business lines: oncology, rare/orphan, Cell and Gene therapies, strategic partnerships, hub services, sales effectiveness analytics, contracting, implementation, account management and other key innovative pharmacy services.
Responsible for meeting and/or exceeding the annual budget for new business development. Accountable to build a budget that considers the business’s strategic plan including critical business investments and on monthly basis monitor performance against plan/budget.
Accountable for leading and growing the following business areas/teams:
Biopharma BD Managers and Directors targeting oncology and complex care pipeline products 18-24 months pre-estimated approval
Proposal development team
Pipeline and Insights across Biologics
Launch excellence and client execution
Account management and clinical innovation
Strategic industry partnerships value proposition
Evaluate and prioritize business development initiatives and supporting strategies based on developing market trends and competitive landscape.
Identify and develop new partnerships, collaborations, and revenue streams of strategic interest by developing business models, forecasts, and launch excellence plans in conjunction with cross-functional leaders.
Develop and maintain key relationships with key opinion leaders, distribution channel partners and other key specialty pharmacy industry stakeholders.
Establish and monitor progress against key performance indicators.
Grow oncology and rare/orphan business through strategic biopharma collaboration and relationship building leading into acquisition of new business and renewals of existing business that meet or exceeds sales objectives.
Proactively identifies and implements ways to (acquire and) grow business with manufacturer accounts by adopting a consultative sales approach that focuses on business solutions and partnership with customers.
Proactively and continuously iterates on business strategy, key projects supporting the strategy and talent acquisition, retention and growth.
Responsible for contract negotiation and execution
Builds relationships and processes with internal multi-disciplinary teams to create efficiencies, launch excellence, data driven business solutions in an atmosphere of respect demonstrating ICARE and ILEAD guiding principles.
Grows sales of service offerings through innovative solutions that are patient centered, future forward and designed to capture additional market share for Biologics.
Seeks out and/or identifies new business opportunities for broader MSH manufacturer facing organization and choreographs account messaging for strategic initiatives and offerings.
Leads a team responsible for sales effectiveness, pipeline monitoring, proposal management, implementation, account management, business development leaders and data innovation.
Attends and supports industry trade shows, company sponsored and/or internal company meetings as needed.
Minimum Requirements
10+ years of experience in healthcare sales or business development to pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
Oncology and rare disease knowledge and experience, highly desired
Experience with healthcare systems; such as EMR, claims data…etc., highly desired
Experience with promotional and non-promotional clinical education services, desired
Innovative /creative approach to consultative strategic business solutions
Proven track record to meet and/or exceed business targets
Direct account management experience required
Financial acumen to evaluate revenue/profit opportunities associated with accounts.
Ability to leverage in-depth knowledge of the market in order to build an effective strategy for the team to execute against
Team player with strong interpersonal and resource management skills.
Bachelor’s degree required. MBA highly desired.
General office demands
Must have the ability to travel up to 60% of the time.
