Position Description
Job Title: Summer Meals Coordinator
FSLA : Non-Exempt
Position Type : Part Time; 25 hours/week
Working Days/ Hours : Monday- Friday 11 AM- 3 PM
Department/ Group : Community Food Services
Accountability : Reports to the Community Food Services Administrator
Location : Allentown
Travel Required: Very Limited, Regional
Summary
This part-time position involves coordinating agency and sponsor staff for a summer lunch program for youth. The position also coordinates activities for the youth and the distribution of food to address the food insecurity of the participants. The Summer Meals Coordinator interacts regularly with both agency and sponsor staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Distribute meals in accordance with grantor and sponsor requirements.
- Gather and coordinate pantry and/or fresh food for distribution to youth and their families.
- Coordinate supplemental activities to ensure positive and age-appropriate interaction with the youth.
- Assist in coordinating additional social services to adults as needed/appropriate.
- Generate daily and monthly reports, records, and forms, as required by the grantor, sponsor, or agency policy.
- Supervise Summer Meal Intern.
- Ensure the site is clean at the end of each program day and provide a positive relationship with the host parish.
- Communicate building maintenance issues and other concerns to the Administrative Office.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Educational Qualifications
- High School graduate; Bachelor's degree candidate preferred.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Due to the nature and mission of the Catholic Church, all employees are bound to exhibit respect for the teachings and discipline of the Church in regard to matters of faith and morals.
- Bilingual fluency (English and Spanish) is preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication and organizational skills required.
- Ability to use his/her vehicle to drive to stores, community gardens, food depots, churches, etc., when required by supervisor or programmatic needs.
- Able to set and adjust priorities, as needed.
- Aptitude for working with individuals/families.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Satisfactory driving record.
- Adept at Microsoft Word and Excel.
Physical Demands
- Notwithstanding applicable ADA accommodations, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit; walk and stand; speak or hear, both in person and by telephone. Use of hands to operate standard kitchen and office equipment. Reaching and lifting 20 pounds is required.
Working Conditions
- Food program/kitchen setting.
- Must demonstrate respect and professionalism toward all clients in all interactions.
- Onsite hours are Monday - Friday 11:00 - 3:00; five additional hours are allotted each week for activity planning, coordination with the sponsor, and shopping.
- 11-week program to begin June 10, 2024, and ends August 23, 2024.
- Must participate in sponsor training and agency orientation which begins May 28, 2024.
- May occasionally be required to work additional hours above and beyond regularly scheduled.
Required Clearances and Trainings
- Prior to start date, all Safe Environment Clearances must be received and reviewed, including FBI fingerprint, Pennsylvania State Police and Pennsylvania Department of Health and Human Services clearances. All clearances must be renewed in accordance with Diocese of Allentown and/or Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for duration of employment.
- Prior to start date, completion of Mandated Reporter Training (MRT) and every 5 years thereafter or when required by agency, Diocese of Allentown, and/or Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Prior to start date, completion of Protecting God's Children Training (PGC) and monthly online bulletins, as well as any recertification, for the duration of employment.
- Any additional requirements implemented by the Diocese of Allentown, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or specific grantors, for the duration of employment.
