Our After School Day Care program has an exciting part time (25 hours per week) opportunity for a Social Worker to join our team.
The Social Worker is responsible for monitoring the progress and needs of children designated as eligible for Supportive Services by the Department of Children and Families. Also assists the Program Director in day-to-day operations.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Confers with ASDC staff and collateral contacts to identify service needs and to evaluate progress of children.
- Schedule supportive slot intakes and completion of necessary paperwork.
- Provide referral services between daycare and FSA psychologist, psychiatrist, therapists and other collateral contacts as indicated.
- Provide staff training; work with staff in development of behavior management techniques and the understanding of children’s behaviors.
- Attend general staff meetings, social work supervision and collateral contact meetings.
- Maintain children’s files in accordance with EEC, DCF, COA and FSA guidelines and standards.
- File necessary abuse and neglect forms (51A’s)
- Calls school and other collateral contacts and requests/provides authorized materials for ongoing case management.
- Intervene in crisis situations between child and peers or child and staff. Provide informal counseling to children experiencing behavior difficulties.
- Meet regularly with children to evaluate needs, referrals and keep ongoing documentation for case management.
- Attend case reviews and regularly scheduled conferences.
- Track and maintain outcome measures as required by DCF.
- Conduct parent meetings at intervals required by DCF/EEC.
- Participate in open houses as scheduled by the ASDC program.
- Participate as a secondary approver for CCFA.
- Maintain office/community hours from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM and community/site hours from 3:00 PM -5:30 PM a minimum of three days a week during the school year; during vacation and summer, maintain a total 15 hours on site/in the community over a minimum of 3 days with the remainder of time spent in the office (with an hour each day for lunch).

Education and Experience:
Minimum bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field and relevant experience serving school age children and their families.
** Experience Desired- Master’s degree, independently licensed (LMHC, LICSW etc.). . Experience working with DCF-involved families preferred.
