Job description
Focal Point Medical Staffing is hiring Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) for per diem (PRN) positions at one of our Long-Term Care facility partners in Newport News, VA! See below for full details and benefits.
Salary: $24.00/hr.
Start Date: March 6, 2024
Schedule/ Shifts: All shifts available!

Position Requirements:
- Current CNA certification in the state where employed with no restrictions on VA registry
- Two forms of identification (Driver's License and Social Security card)
- COVID Vaccination
- You must have a current Negative TB Blood Test/2-Step PPD or Chest X-Ray (within the last 12 months)
- CPR (BLS), ACLS, PALS Verification (Accepted from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, American Safety and Health Institute, ONLINE CPR IS NOT ACCEPTABLE)
- 2 MMR vaccinations OR Positive Titer for MMR (this can be found at your local health department)
- 2 Varivax vaccinations (Varicella-Chicken Pox) OR Positive Titer (this can be found at your local health department)
- Flu Vaccine
- Hep B (clinical areas only)
- Virginia State Police Check (We will provide the location)
- Clean criminal background and ability to pass a drug screening
- Most recent Negative PPD (within last 12 months) OR Chest X-ray (within last 5 years)
- 6+ months of previous experience in a Long-Term Care and/or Assisted Living setting
- Reliable transportation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with daily needs, such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and personal hygiene
- Monitor and record vital signs, blood glucose, and other patient information as directed
- Administer medications to patients as prescribed by the physician or nurse
- Assist patients in therapy and rehabilitation programs
- Assist in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment for patients
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families
- Report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the registered nurse or licensed practical nurse
- Document patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner
Working Conditions:
The CNA will be required to work in a healthcare facility, including hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. The job may require the CNA to lift and move patients or heavy equipment. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
