Job description

Mustang Seeds, Inc. is a regional independent family-owned seed company, and a leading provider of high-quality agricultural seeds which includes corn, soybeans, alfalfa, cover crops, grasses and small grains. With a rich history spanning over 60 years, we have established ourselves as a reputable company, driven by innovation, integrity, and a commitment to our customers and employee's success. Mustang Seeds Northern Division is based in Madison, SD, and has a footprint which covers the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin. As we move forward, we are looking to expand our North Dakota footprint by having a District Sales Manager based in SW North Dakota.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Learn and Promote Mustang Seeds portfolio of seed offerings.
• Manage existing customer base by providing customer service which includes knowledge of customer operations and their needs.
• Recruit new dealers to increase sales and distribution to maximize sales in assigned territory.
• Identify new customers and build relationships to help understand the customer's farming needs. Develop a plan of action for customer success utilizing Mustang Seeds products and services.
• Offer exceptional customer service by reporting and making recommendations to your dealers, farmers, and growers. Assist with product selection and placement based on agronomic needs.
• Work closely with sales manager and marketing for sales forecasting in your territory.
• Promote Mustang Seeds, and services provided by the company,
• Obtain, train, and work with dealerships to assist in their success and sales plan.
• Be involved in field and test plots and assist in signage.
• Submit sales reports and other requests from your supervisor on a timely basis.
• Follow company policy regarding delivery, returns and other necessary functions to maintain an accurate inventory count.
• Attend and participate in sales meetings. Most sales meetings are held in Madison, South Dakota.
• Attend and participate in company events that involve co-workers, customers, training, and team building.
• Work closely with controller on accounts receivable and assist with collections when requested.
• Work closely with Sales Administration Assistant.
• Maintain the company issued vehicle in accordance with maintenance schedule and repairs.
• Report accidents or damage to company property to the sales manager.
• Assist in seed delivery and returns.
• Assist in development of sales meeting content when requested by manager.
• Other duties as assigned by sales manager.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Bachelor of Science or completion and graduation from a two-year college in Agronomy or Ag Business, or related field is preferred. CDL is required or must be completed within three (3) months of employment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Successful candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, must be self-starting and able to work independently while being part of a high functioning sales team. Time management, being detail-orientated and organization skills are crucial for success. DSM's must be comfortable making cold calls and building a territory. Being proficient in Microsoft Office and Sales Force is required within six (6) months of employment. A CDL is required or must be completed within three (3) months of employment.

OTHER

Company vehicle provided. Commission is paid annually on October 15 for the selling season ending August 31.
