Job description
We are actively seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to contribute to the development of two pivotal online courses: "Ethical and Legal Issues in Counseling I" and "Ethical and Legal Issues in Counseling II". These courses are integral components of our curriculum, designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills to navigate ethical standards and legal requirements in the field of professional counseling.
Job Description:
You will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students. Collaborating closely with our instructional design team and under the supervision of the dean and/or Program Director, you will develop engaging, relevant, and up-to-date course content that adheres to the highest academic standards. While course descriptions, objectives, and select assessment plans have already been outlined, your expertise will be instrumental in refining and enhancing the content, ensuring its alignment with industry standards and best practices.
Responsibilities:
Provide expert knowledge in mental health, specifically pertaining to ethical and legal issues in counseling.
Develop interactive and meaningful learning experiences, including engaging course content and learning modules.
Author original module content and assessments, ensuring alignment with course objectives and accreditation standards.
Create multimedia materials such as PowerPoint presentations with voiceover recordings to enrich the learning experience.
Foster student engagement through interactive discussion board topics and community-building activities.
Collaborate with the instructional support team to incorporate course content into our Learning Management System (LMS).
Adhere to project timelines and commit to meeting all agreed-upon deadlines.
Participate in regular check-in meetings to refine course content and make improvements based on feedback.
Experience and Attributes:
Master's degree with a focus on clinical mental health counseling; doctorate preferred.
Previous experience in course development, preferably in an online higher education setting.
Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deliver course content, assessments, and instructional materials.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with adherence to academic standards (APA guidelines).
Experience in mental health practice, research, or education is desirable.
Familiarity with online teaching platforms and a willingness to adapt to new technological approaches.
Positive attitude, creativity, and a commitment to academic integrity and professional development.
Technology Requirement:
You are expected to have access to a personal computer with internet connectivity and virus protection. Training and support will be provided, and familiarity with the Canvas Learning Management System is advantageous.
Working Environment:
This is a remote/online position, with regular communication and collaboration with internal teams. Flexibility and adaptability are key, and occasional travel may be required.
