Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine (VDPAM) in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, located in Ames, Iowa, invites applicants for a temporary Locum position in the Food Animal and Camelid Hospital at the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC).
The Locum will provide relief veterinary services for the Food Supply Veterinary Medicine section of VDPAM in the teaching hospital, including on-call coverage. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to collaborate with the current accomplished team of veterinary specialist s and staff to provide outstanding:
Professional services including patient evaluation, specialty case management and follow-up care.
Rotational instruction and evaluation of students, interns and residents.
Consultations with other hospital services and referring veterinarians.
Department Unit/Website:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
DVM or equivalent degree.
License to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Iowa on or before the first day of the appointment .
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in providing tertiary, referral-level patient work-up and medical management.
Advanced training or residency specializing in large animal medicine or surgery.
Diplomate status through American College of Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS).
