Job description
Management position responsible for ensuring Bank activities related to deposit operations run smoothly and efficiently, adhering to all relevant internal controls and including identifying process improvement opportunities. Works closely with other departments across the bank, in particular retail and treasury management services to ensure operational activities align with branch administration and retail banking priorities. Oversees specific operational staffs/tasks related to OFAC compliance reports, item processing, customer statement cycles and mailing, completion of customer and/or branch requested research, Cash Services, account reconciliations, ACH Operations, escheatment, general ledger reconciliations, fraud detection systems, exception item processing, new account reviews and CD/IRA/HSA processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Ensure department’s responsibilities are completed timely, accurately, and deliver an excellent customer experience and that all internal controls are fully functional.
- Stay abreast of federal and state banking laws. Assess and make changes to the bank’s processes, procedures and staff (as needed) in response to changes in regulations.
- Manage operational risk within the department and deliver satisfactory regulatory and internal audits.
- Partner with the Finance and IT departments as well as Branch Administration to design and/or implement technical support of new products and services. Make sure system parameters for new or revised products are processed timely and effectively.
- Responsible for implementation of core (and other related) system enhancements, upgrades and/or updates including testing, benefit analysis and coordination with other departments. Work to ensure a high level of utilization of all system capabilities by Deposit Operations staff.
- Liaison between the Bank and system service providers for Deposit applications.
- Directly manage Deposit Support employees and carry out all related management responsibilities.
- Recruit, develop, retain and motivate a high caliber of talent.
- Develop and utilize effective MIS reporting to deliver continuous improvement.
- Develop and manage an annual operating budget with an emphasis on reducing/preventing operating losses.
- Act as a senior resource on strategic topics such as fee analyses, deposit inflow/outflows, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or 7 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in deposit operations.
- Proven leadership experience
- Vendor Management experience
- Strong knowledge and practice of IT concepts and practices.
- Knowledge and experience with MIS data reporting/analysis
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to effectively multi-task
- Experience with automated workflow systems a plus
- Experience presenting to senior/executive audiences
