Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accurately and quickly fills the unit dose cassettes, dispenses first doses, and performs computer billing of medications. Notes and questions potential problems during the dispensing process.
Accurately prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile products. Has taken and passed the aseptic technique competency.
Assists the pharmacists in the entry and dispensing of medications using the pharmacy computer systems.
Receives and stickers drugs received from the wholesale vendor and places in appropriate storage areas in a timely manner. Checks the drugs received against the invoice to ensure that all items ordered have been delivered.
Delivers medications, unit dose cassettes, and intravenous admixtures to their destinations using the tube system, trayveyor, or through hand delivery.
Restocks the automated dispensing stations in an accurate and timely manner. Reports all discrepancies encountered to the pharmacist.
Performs monthly inspections of drug storage areas as assigned. Documents ins`res that adequate but not excessive amounts of drugs are kept in stock.
Instructs, orients, and guides new students, technicians, and pharmacists in those procedures performed by the technical staff. Has taken and passed all departmental competencies.
Performs unit dose packaging for those products not done so commercially. Repackages the Code Blue medication trays.
Meets departmental attendance standards. Less than 6 occurrences of unscheduled ATA use per year meets standard. Three or fewer occurrences per year exceeds standard. Attends departmental staff meetings whenever possible.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science Degree or equiv. required or current enrollment in a school of pharmacy.
Licensure: California state registration as an intern required.

$18.07 - $28.00 /hour
